ABOUT THE GAME
For this project, I and my team first made a Frogger game that works as close to the original Frogger as possible. After that, we decided to merge our Frogger with Dark Soul which is to add a boss battle level.
The level is a larger version of the first level with a turtle boss. Players must navigate around the map while dodging projectiles. Once a car is destroyed by the boss projectiles it will drop a bullet pickup. Carrying this bullet to a cannon located on the opposite side of the map will damage the boss. Players need 5 shots to win.
The boss has multiple attacks like a tracking bullet, a long-range bite, and a flamethrower. Once damaged enough the boss will split into 3 turtles and players must dodge around the barrage of attacks for 10 seconds.
A new UI, high score, and life coin system will also be created.
Additionally, the second type of cannon that freezes the boss for a short time will also be added. Other pickups will include a shield pickup that protects players from being hit by bullet for 8 seconds and a Health pickup that gives players an extra life.
WHAT I DID
Systems: I designed all major system in the game, from the boss mechanics to all cannons and pickups. Also all the hints and tutorials.
Level Design: I lead the team in discussions over level design, created the rough drafts and came up with different boss skills.
Scripting: One of my largest responsibilities was handling the bulk of the scripting for this game. I coded all the boss movement, skills, all the pickups, generators, cannons, tutorials, hints. I also did the UI and some of the particle effects.
